event triggers in XPDL 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Hi, I'm new to XPDL. I want to know if XPDL supports event triggers. More specially, I want to know if workflow engine based on XPDL can trigger an external event when it reaches a node.

Event triggers have been in XPDL starting at Version 2.0 with the inclusion of BPMN. All BPMN Events were added at that time. XPDL Version 2.1 was updated to reflect the changes in BPMN 1.2.
Workflow engines, even when they claim support for XPDL, don't necessarily support all the functionality. There are a lot of different types of Events in BPMN. You would need to check the specs on a particular engine to answer your question.
We have defined several classes of portability conformance. The SIMPLE class only includes Start and End events with no trigger. The STANDARD class includes a lot of the events with triggers. The classes are defined in the XPDL2.1 specification.
The WfMC website has a white paper on XPDL2.1 that also describes the portability conformance classes.
